Old Fashioned Community Service this Sunday at Spencer's Grove Church

Come spend an afternoon in the old country church at Spencer's Grove Church is located at 3223 51st. St., Walker, IA on Highway D-62, 4 miles west of Walker.   We are having a community church service at 3 PM, this Sunday, June 23, cemetery walk at 4 PM. We will hold a Potluck Community Picnic at 5 PM in the grove: Bring food to share, your own table service, beverage (no alcohol please) and lawn chairs.

Brush with Kindness: Project volunteers needed June 22, 29

Volunteers began painting this house on Saturday; more volunteers are needed for June 22,29. A Habitat for Humanity ABWK (A Brush With Kindness) project at 2766 56th Street Drive northeast of Vinton has begun. The time frame is 8 am - 3 pm. for the next two Saturdays. Painting began on Saturday, June 15 and will continue next Saturday, June 22. The project will continue June 29, with dirt work/landscaping. FEMA Corps members to graduate; ceremony set for 3 p.m. today

The first class of NCCC-FEMA Corps members graduate today at 3 p.m. at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School. There is a meet and greet with teams from 2-3 p.m. before the ceremony. The public is invited to both events.

Block Party at Hummel Park Thursday night

Vinton Unlimited Block Party! Tonight Thursday, June 13th 5-8pm at Hummel Park (at intersection of 2nd Avenue and 5th Street, across the street from McDowell's). Some seating will be provided, but it might behoove you to bring a lawn chair just in case!   Come out and join Vinton Unlimited as we celebrate and highlight our local businesses throughout the community!  Last year we were able to host 3 different Block Parties throughout the community and this year we're doing more of the same! Corndog Kickoff: The Grandest Show Around

It's sure to be the "Grandest Show Around," as the Blue Ribbon Foundation plays host to the seventeenth annual Corndog Kickoff Benefit Auction and Fair Food Grazing Party on Saturday, July 13 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Doors to the William C. Knapp Varied Industries Building will open at 6:30 p.m. for a night filled with exciting auction packages, entertainment and all of your favorite Fair foods; all while helping raise funds to restore the historic Iowa State Fairgrounds! Nearly 200 enticing auction packages fill the live and silent auctions.
